On 16th March 2004, the automaker recalled 2003 Santa Fe models, which were packed with 4WD 3.5-liter V-6 engines along with an ABS.

When the driver applied pressure on the brake pedal at a speed between three and twelve mph with wet brake pad surfaces, a shaking could occur between the brake pads and discs, developing ABS sensor electronic signal noise.
